Caregiver Solutions has combined several successful strategies with our unique cue designs and proprietary processes to create Alzheimer’s Therapy Tables. These products are highly effective at bringing light into the often dark world of one with Alzheimer’s or a similar form of dementia.

Combine Fidgeting with Nostalgia - One key to the effectiveness is the combination of our unique fidget devices and nostalgia cues. The fidget devices put the person with Alzheimer's Disease (AD) at ease, encouraging his/her hands to explore the table. Once exploring, the person with AD “discovers” specially selected nostalgia cues that trigger deep-seated memories from when the person was a teenager through their early twenties. This combination engages the person with AD and promotes communication with the caregiver. The tables also provide effective intervention, re-directing and de-escalating of behavioral episodes, thus reducing stress for all involved.

Multiple, Unique Cues - Caregiver Solutions has designed over 50 unique devices that encourage timid hands. Examples of these include the simple CS-Copper Flopper™, and the more complex CS- Butterfly™ which is both interesting to look at and combines multiple sensory stimuli with several fine motor skill elements.
Our library of cues is comprised of these proprietary devices plus hundreds of purchased cues and memorabilia identified for inclusion in a memory book.

Our standard tables each include about 35 cues. This number is large, with an understanding that the person with AD may be impacted by different stimuli on any given day. The large numbers of cues on the table surface gives the caregiver nearly limitless subject matter for questions and engagement. Of course, the interaction depends on the progression of dementia, but skillful, loving use often leads to greater communication and joy for both the person with AD and caregiver.

Pathways Assimilation Technology(1) - Timid hands and those with visual impairment are aided by special grooves in the surface of our Later Stage table. This innovation gives the person with AD encouragement and “permission” to explore the table, even if it’s difficult for him/her to see it.
The texture is interesting and the edges effectively direct exploration. The pathways lead the fingers of the person with AD to key cues for early exploration resulting in a faster enjoyment of the world created by the table. For some the pathways provide enough “self guidance” to the user to allow a caregiver a brief respite.

Custom Tables - In addition to our standard products, Caregiver Solutions is committed to producing custom products for those who want the most effective devices possible for their loved one with AD.
With our ATD Scoring(1), Life Experience Survey(1), and manufacturing processes, we create therapy products matched to the background and preferences of individual persons with AD. ATD Scoring refers to our process of grading each cue or fidget device on 5 distinctive characteristics. These include General Nostalgia, Specific Nostalgia, Visual appeal, Sensory value and Motor Skill value. The survey records specific life details and matches these to potential stimuli. The ATD scoring is coupled with the respondent’s weighting of the subject area to ensure that we chose devices that will have the greatest possible impact for your loved one. The last processing steps position the stimuli in the location for greatest overall impact and confirm the final device selections.
This careful combination of technology with experience and whimsical design results in the unique products we call Custom Alzheimer’s Therapy Tables. If you have someone close to you who suffers from dementia, please consider Alzheimer’s Therapy Tables as an effective, complimentary, non-pharmaceutical strategy. They really work!
